Excellent Product!
This is such a nice alternative for the brand bags. I tried to get Dirt Devil bags but it looks like they stopped producing them. These bags fit perfectly and are so much cheaper. Great value!

Vacuum Cleaner Bags
These seem to work just fine. However, I did think it odd that the bags were advertised to be available in multiples of ten, but the order was filled with 3 packs. A good product anyway.

What I wanted...different packaging
These bags are very difficult to find in stores. The "10-pack" I received consisted of 3 "3-packs" and a single unpackaged bag - but I did get 10, and they arrived when expected.

Works just fine
These are a generic (not brand name) replacement filter, but other than needing a little push to seat properly, perform just as well as the name brand filters.

Excellent
Excellent service. Bags were of good quality and cheaper than Dirt Devil brand which is getting impossible to find.

The perfect trash can
This is the best trash can. It slides in and out smoothly with ample space to empty the garbage. It's sturdy and sleek. It keeps your garbage concealed, yet convenient to use while cooking. Best of all, it's roomy! I wouldn't change a thing, it's just so easy to install and use. The quality you expect from Simple Human.

Sturdy, attractive, easy roller.
easy to install
rolls in and out effortlessly
attractive design that includes a stainless handle and fitted waste basket
Our last one had cheap rollers and framing that bent over time and became harder and harder to use. I can easily imagine this lasting for many, many years.

fair product
This product is sturdy enough but doesn't pull out far enough. If you have a full bag of trash there is no way to get the bag out without spilling trash. If you are happy wasting garbage bags this item is for you.

Works great!
Installed easily. Very solid construction. Smooth mechanism. Pre-drilling the screw holes will make it easier to install.

Best pull-out, hideaway can you can buy--especially for the great price!
I purchased many Simplehuman products for my home over the past few months. I never liked seeing my trash can out, especially in my beautiful kitchen. I searched and searched for the right hideaway can and came across this model.
At first, I was a bit discouraged by the specifications, as it seemed quite small. I ordered it anyway, figuring for the price if I wasnt happy I could put it install it in a spare bathroom.
I ordered from CHEFS and got it in 2 days (to PA). When I took it out of the box, I was surprised to see it was a standard size can. The frame and slider are extremely sturdy and durable. Cosmetically, the unit is a 10! I am a stickler for things looking perfect and orderly, and this one exceeded my expectations. It's high polished stainless and looks incredible! I looked at more than 10 in Lowes, Home Depot, BedBath.., ect, and none compared or even came close.
I have to add, the other reviewer stating this unit is poorly manufactured is stating a complete crock of s***! This is EXTREMELY well made! I plan on posting a personal photo on the site shortly.
If youre considering the purchase, stop considering and just buy! You won't be disappointed!

Good value
Assume they really are enviro-friendly and they work just fine. No tears using them for routine household/kitchen garbage.

I like the product but...
I like the product. Getting it on a subscription basis along w/free shipping made it an excellent buy. But the price changed on my last order (added sales tax was part of it) such that I can buy similar quality bags for a little cheaper locally. Good product. Just too bad the cost went up.

OK. Biggest thing they are green.
These are just like regular trash bags. They don't have the convienent little handle cord, and they aren't especially thick, but they work fine for light household work. I am trusting they are less harmful to the planet, so that makes me feel better about using any sort of plastic, convenience product.

No worries about tears
When comparing Glad bulk count and Seventh Generation bulk count 33 gallon bags, the Seventh Generation costs less per bag. We've been using 100% recycled content bags for eight months, averaging two bags a week, so approximately 64 bags without a single tear or spill.

7th Generation Trash Bags
We purchased these 7th Generation Trash bags on an trial basis. They are a very good product, don't tear (unless you over load them), are good for our world and have proven to be cost effective when compared to other trash bags.

Welcome to the 21st Century! Once you try the Touchless Trashcan, you will never go back to the traditional or step-on trash can again. After all, it's your most use appliance everyday, make it easier! It is a 100% hands-free operated, wireless, lidded waste disposal system. The built-in Artificial Intelligent (AI) Smart-Chip knows when you need to open trash can, and do all the openings and closings for you without touching or step-on anything. The Touchless Trashcan uses invisible harmless infrared technology. Place hand or debris about 6 inches away from the infrared sensor near the lid. It will open instantly when you approach and will close automatically in 3-second after debris has been released and hand moves away. Lid will remain open if debris or hand is within 6 inches range of the infrared sensor. There are 2 buttons on the front to open and close the lid manually and an on/off switch on the back of the trashcan. It creates a germ free, odor free, automated environment. It keeps your hands clean when cooking or touching your kid. Helps prevent contamination! It opens for you automatically when your hands or feet are occupied. Your kids will have fun to throw the trash for you. It just makes sense! In fact, it outlasts most of the step-on and hand-touch trash cans. "You don't touch it and you won't break it!" Tested opening 100,000 times in laboratory. If you open 20 times a day, it can last over 10 years. This can actually be the last trash can you will ever buy. It saves you money.
- New AI Smart-Chip IITM
- New SilenXTM Technology
- New "Eagle Eye" Infrared SensorTM
- 100% hands-free operation
- Removable hard plastic top cover for easy cleaning

Works well enough but don't use for kitchen
I've had no problem with the automatic lid until we started to use it for the kitchen.
1) lid is very light as you might imagine since this is battery operated
2) with kitchen trash, lid can easily malfunction due to the high moisture content. taking the batteries out and drying the unit will help but that kind of defeats the purpose of something like this
3) unit is _NOT_ waterproof. so if your trash has a lot of liquid that seeps out through the trash bag, it will seep onto your floor.
4) lid is difficult to clean.
5) lid does get confused when it's being used heavily. e.g. a party where many people are throwing stuff away
6) when turning the unit on after turning it off, make sure nothing's in the way as it calibrates itself. otherwise lid will open and close incessantly with little rhyme or reason.
7) comes with an inner plastic ring that holds the bag in place. this ring is a bit flimsy and ours broke as I was taking it out one day - I guess I must have twisted or something.
But it does do what it says - touch free operation for the most part.

It has worked great for a year now- buying more for family...
We bought this model right about a year ago and it has worked like a charm from day one. It is by far the nicest trash can we have ever owned and at an awesome price! I think we paid for it last year and got a free iTouchless water faucet sensor with it (which is also a fantastic product for our bathroom by the way) so it really was a great deal. All of our family and friends comment on how much they love both of these products so I am now going to buy them for Christmas presents for family. By the way, we have not had to change the batteries yet so I am very impressed with that as well.

Touch-Free Stainless Steel 13-Gallon Trash Can
Our Purchase from SCROOGE & MARLEY was exactly as represented, and we were happy with the savings we received for the slightly marred trash can. We will definitely continue buying from Amazon.com and wouldn't hesitate to use SCROOGE & MARLEY again.

This is Garbage
Although I admire the ingenuity of hands-free design, in execution, this trash can is not worth the money and frustration you pay for. I must dissuade future buyers from considering this. While my 2007 unit worked for a year, it was never reliable. There were many, sporadic occasions when this trash can would open and close its lid repeatedly. And even replacing it with a fresh set of batteries did not alleviate this behavior. I can only make an educated guess that something related to moisture is triggering the infrared sensor, because it did not matter whether the light was turned on or off, there was nothing visible yet something was interfering with it.
Towards the end of its useful lifespan in 2008, the motor would not be able to lift the lid wide open, and it would not be able to shut it completely. This whittled away whatever was left of my tolerance and turned the mundane task of cleaning up into an exercise in frustration.
I urge everyone to avoid this and other shoddy iTouchless models which were conceived in great earnest but do not deliver an end-product that is worth your money and meets the claims of opening flawlessly 100,000 times

great product
manual overide lets you leave it open while cooking, then
back to motion controlled at a touch of a button. Very handy

Loved it!
This item is GREAT! Unfortunatley it didn't fit on the cabinet door where we planned for it to go, but it was such a great prouduct we kept it and will find another spot for it in the garage. The bags really stay on the frame- such a cool invention!

Smart trash can~!
My kitchen is on the smaller side, so I was looking for space saving ideas. This trash can works perfectly under my sink, and I never have to buy garbage bags again! We are a recycling household, so we use this trash can for regular trash (which we never have much of), and a much larger can for recycling. We do not have a problem with trash odor thanks to the lid on the cabinet mount trash system, and its location under the sink. Brilliant idea! I love it.

i dont own this item but
I was seconds from buying it, when i saw the shipping charge, and checked out simple humans website... and they have free shipping on items over . I actually ended up ordering a dual trash/recycling can the pulls out on a track.

Great way to get the most out of those plastic grocery bags.
Firstly, this is a great trash can. It looks nice, is built well, and it is a great way to get rid of those nasty grocery bags. The arms that you wrap the bag handles around really hold the bags in place. I have never been able to stuff so much trash into old grocery bags as you can with this device.
Now that being said, the unit is a bit large. You need quite a bit of space under your cabinet for this thing to work. We actually have to open the second door slightly in order to reclose the cabinet door but it is something that we are willing to live with in order to hide our trash can under the counter and recycle those bags.
I don't know why, but I thought that this thing was an over the door type install like a different (cheaper) model sold on Amazon. There was nothing in the pictures or literature to make me think this, but for some reason I did. This was a slight problem for me and it could be for other users. In order for the bin to work properly, it must be installed about 2.5 inches from the edge of the door. Since the screw holes are about 2.5 inches further in, that meant that I needed to put screw holes about 5 inches from the inside of my cabinet and about 8 inches from the top of my cabinet door for the top set of holes. There is a lower set of holes about 6 inches below that. For me, and others who have cheaper cabinet doors, that meant the holes were to go through a flimsy piece of 1/16" plywood. Needless to say, the screw would have stuck out of the front of the cabinet by all most 3/4". We went to the hardware store and bought a cheap piece of pine molding, about .5"X 36", cut it in half and screwed these to the cabinet frame where the screws would land (the frame around the cabinet is closer to 3/4" thick). And it works great. The extra trouble was definitely worth the convenience. I would buy it again and recommend it to anyone who has the room under their sink to put it in.
I'm also going to plead with Simple Human to make an over the cabinet door install for those of us who may get in trouble with a land lord for drilling into cabinet doors.

Love the SimpleHuman trash system!
I have a septic system and can't install a garbage disposal, so I keep a screen trap in my sink to catch coffee grounds, fruit peels, and the like. Like another reviewer, I had a white plastic coated wire trash bag holder attached to the door under my sink. It was flimsy and hard to clean, but it was so useful to have a trash bin that I could access with one finger. When it finally fell apart, boy did I miss it.... and had dirty spots trailing across the floor from trying to carry wet gunk from the sink to the trash can 6 feet away. I found a crappy one that was even more flimsy and totally unacceptable--the lid would not stay open when lifted, which made it useless for transferring garbage when your hands are full. I looked EVERYWHERE for a replacement like that wire one, but none of the local kitchen stores seem to carry them anymore. Nor could I find any online... until I found this handy and far superior item from SimpleHuman.
This is just great. I love that it comes with a storage bin for the bags, and that the bin catches any drippings from the bags. Many of those shopping bags have little holes in the seams on the bottom, so I always double bag... but sometimes they still leak. No problem, because the bin that holds bags underneath has a tray-style top to catch any drippings. Very smart thinking!
I think that the people who complained about the measurements just looked at height and width of the unit vs. size of their cabinet door. Perhaps they failed to consider the DEPTH of the bin (8+ inches) when they measured their cabinet doors... you have to account for the lid in order to ensure that your cabinet door is wide enough and tall enough to open and close with the bin in place.
Be sure to take a piece of cardboard that equals the size of the bin cover-- 13.2x 8.2 inches--and hold it perpendicular to the cabinet door where you expect the lid to be--and make sure that you can open and close the door. Don't just measure your cabinet door, because the actual OPENING that the door covers will be smaller. I don't think that simplehuman can be blamed for not including that advice in the specs, but they might be wise to do so to minimize returns. I was very careful to test before I drilled holes for the screws. I would recommend having a friend help hold it in place as you do so, as it's hard to hold steadily in place with one hand while you mark where the holes go. But I managed to get the holes marked correctly and now I have a very solid, very useful under-sink bin.
These days I use cloth bags when I shop so I try not to accumulate those plastic shopping bags, but somehow I always have them around. If I run out, I'll grab a few from the self-checkout or the bag-recycle bin at the store.
BTW they also have excellent customer service. I managed to break one of the three brackets that hold the lid to the steel frame. I don't mean to imply that the lid is brittle or weak because it's not. The plastic is solid but flexible. Perhaps I was a bit rough in pulling it off when I became impatient about trying to measure those drill holes by myself. Perhaps it came that way, I don't know. I could have let ti go, as the other two brackets held it in place and it worked fine, but I wrote to simplehuman... and they immediately sent me a replacement lid.
I could not be happier, which is why I am bothering to write. I'm glad I bought an extra one as a gift for a friend. Excellent product.
