Tidy Little Machine!!!
This vacuum is great!!!

I have
- 680 sq. ft. apartment; 3/4 of which is carpeted
- 2 cats
- allergies
- not much space for storage

So far so good. I've had the unit for a month now and so far it is working like a charm.
Great suction power. I was really surprised with how much dirt, cat litter, cat hair, and random crap this thing was able to suck into the canister. The power paw is fantastic. I have a couch and a black office chair that the cats like to lounge on and the cat hair accumulates rather fast on them. The power paw makes a huge difference after giving it a good once over. The unit is also compact which makes storage that much easier.

My only complaint thus far is that the placement of the filter is such that you really should take it off and give it a good shake after each time you use it. The cat hair gets trapped in between the filter and the container. I don't mind this so much. For the price of the unit and its performance thus far, it really is a great machine.

As a reference, I used to borrow my parent's Dyson DC07 all the time and even after getting used to that expensive Dyson I would say that this relatively inexpensive unit is still very impressive. Just don't buy it for a full sized house. It's perfect for a small to medium apartment.

I want my disposable bags
For years we used a good quality canister vacuum with disposable bags. We thought the OPTIMA Pet Lover vacuum would be an improvement for the cat hair we live with (one cat), but the trade-off was a big disappointment.

The filter clogs EVERY time we vacuum and it takes at least 10 minutes to clear the gunk.

Also, the hose constantly pops out of its holder while simply using the back and forth motion on our carpet, NOT from bumping it against anything.

PROS:decent price, good suction
CONS: clogged filters after every use, the retaining ring which holds the hose, doesn't.

vacuum cleaner
Wife is entirely satisfied with this product. She uses it to clean up dog hair exclusively and appreciates its size and weight.

Works much better than expected
I was weary of this model because of the size, and the tellatubby handle, but it does work better than the previous few full sized vacuums ive owned. (This has the same power as a full sized vacuum, 12amps)

The only weird thing is the two extra steps needed to use the hose, you have to turn a knob and push a button, which isnt a negative really because i believe this unit may not clog like other vacuums because when using this in upright position it doesnt make everything travel up the hose.

Overall, I highly recommend this product.

blows dust all over the place
I thought this would be a great vacuum, BUT whomever designed it really wasn't thinking. The exhaust is in the front right on top of where the suction is- therefore, the exhauste blows dust bunnies all over the place into the air before the vacuum has a chance to suck it up. It's very frustrating, and causes many allery attacks in my house... Also, dumping the dust out is messy and it also flies around, and then cleaning the filter is practically impossible- and fills up very fast if you own a pet. The only good part of this vacuum is the powerbrush which does a great job of getting pet hair off of the furniture. I am giving this away and spent way too much money on a Miele stick vac to replace it- my allergies are much happier about it.

Seeing Is Believing!
That's the old saying, but it rings true here. I was simply amazed at how much dirt this vac pulls up out of a clean carpet, let alone a dirty one. A fantastic vac that beats anything costing 0's more. A true great value for the price. Extra nice feature is a long,I mean long cord that retracts at the push of a button! Almost makes vacuuming fun! I know that sounds crazy,but.......I'll let you decide..

Was great (for a month)
Loved this vacuum for about a month. Did wonders with cat hair. Was quiet, easy to maneuver. But after a month, the belt snapped. I really expected more. And you would think they would put an extra one in the box . . . but I just ordered two from the manufacturers website (about each, plus .50 for shipping). I figure that will get me through the rest of the winter!

Absolutely the greatest little vacuum!
Did a lot of research before buying this vacuum and have not been disappointed! It is just the greatest! I have 4 cats, and it does a terrific job in picking up kitty fur and scattered litter! It is lightweight and easy to use. The retracting cord is so handy. Actually bought two of these. Started out with one for my daughter for her new apartment. After using it, she said her rugs looked like new! So I bought one for myself. If you are looking for an inexpensive yet powerful vacuum, buy this one. I guarantee you won't be disappointed! An extra note. Since it is so easy to use and not a bit cumbersome, I find that I vacuum more often. That is a big plus!

Eureka 4236AZ
I'm very pleased with this vacuum it picks up everything it's amazing how much more it picks up than my last vacuum. It picks up the fine thin dog hair with no problems. It is easy to clean be sure to have it far enough down a garbage bag so the dust doesn't fly. I love the retractable power cord! I agree with other reviews that it could have come a bit more assembled but just follow the directions it's very easy to put together. Eureka 4236AZ Comfort Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

What a pain
Unless you like the idea of taking your vacuum apart each and EVERY time you use it and having to wash out the entire vacuum, this machine is not for you. As noted in another review, you have to change the filter at least every 2 months even though the manual says only every 6 months. There's no way to really clean the filter out, and even when you try, it takes DAYS for it to dry well enough to put back into the machine. So then you have your vacuum parts laying out around the house. When you take the filter out to clean it, you have to bang it and shake it to get the first 80 layers of dirt off, so expect to have a big mess of dirt and mess to clean up out of your sink, kitchen counters and floor. This design is a disaster. When I clean house, the last thing I want when I'm done is yet ANOTHER cleaning job to do!! Bags are so much easier, faster, and cheaper.

Ideal For Hard Floors
I've owned this vacuum for about a year and a half. I bought it first to replace the dinosaur upright I had been using, which had hard plastic wheels and a metal shield on the bottom that scratched my floors occasionally. Also, the old one sounded like a 747.

I have a Newfoundland dog that sheds a lot of long, fine hair and a small mutt that sheds short, coarse hair. My house has decorative cement floors that are sealed with a thick coat of high gloss epoxy and a few large area rugs. All in all, this vacuum is a excellent value. I bought it for 0 and it's works great.

Pros:
Rubberized wheels on the tank. The hard plastic wheels on the old 747 would slide rather than roll across the hard floors leaving scratches; when those wheels encountered anything hard like a pebble they would push it instead roll over it, again scratching the floor. The rubber wheels on the Eureka can grip the surface of the floor and never slide across it and it rolls over anything abrasive that I've missed. There's been no new scratches with the new vacuum.

Easy Switch Attachments: Switching from the electrified rug/carpet beater attachment to the hard surface brush it fast and easy.

Compactness: Because it can be taken apart so easily, storing it in a small closet is fast and easy.

Quietness: Compared to the old 747, this one is whisper quiet.

Cons:
Shortish cord means stopping to switch outlets more frequently.

Low quality materials. From the handle down this is made of low quality plastic. The thing that held the crevice tool and small brush to the wand broke off within the first month. But for 0 I'm o.k with that, the motor, wheels and beater bar are going strong.

I have not received this item. It still needs to be received by me.
I have not received this product. I have contacted the vendor numerous times. They have not been helpful at all. If the product was lost in transit then they need to send another. I am extremely frustrated about this which is apparently what the venodr wants so I will just give up and let them keep my money.

what I expected
It's a small, powerful, and quiet vacuum. I use it on my hardwood and tiled floors where it picks up everything. The suction control allows me to vacuum throw rugs quickly without pulling the small rug up. Controlling the suction is also useful on my lampshades and blinds. This machine was exactly what I was looking for.

Nice if you want a 1-year vacuum
Nice power, seemed to pick up everything, easy to change the bag. Downside? Plenty: Completely constructed of cheap plastic. Every time I put the nozzle into the vacuum head I cringe because it feels like the cheap plastic is going to break. The nozzle attachments are CONSTANTLY falling off while you are vacuuming, dont even bother attaching them. Here I am after one year of light upstairs use and now it's broken, it no longer runs in carpet mode, the brushes dont turn. The only thing left is floor mode which doesnt work on carpets. Absolutely, positively DO NOT BUY IT, there are way better products out there for the money.

Good Value for Versatile Vacuum
I'm not one to take the time to submit a product review, however I do read reviews frequently and in this case I read dozens of reviews before deciding on this vacuum. I spent at least a month researching the right vac for our house.

Bottom Line: Very good value for a very versatile vacuum. For 0 it's a lot of vac for the money. Finding a solid but affordable canister vac is a real challenge I think. Most models are really junk--even the pricier models. This little guy really came through on almost all levels and I'm very satisfied.

Pros:
1) Powerful: it has excellent suction. Extraordinarily so for such a quiet, compact little vac.
2) Quiet: it's much quieter than the Kenmore Upright I owned before. It's noticeably quiet. My kids and wife both commented that I could run the vac while they watch TV.
3) Light: my wife wanted a light vacuum. This guy is small but mighty. It's a good size for moving through a house or apartment. Really an excellent vac if you have a lot of tight spaces.
4) Well-Designed: yes, it's a plastic vac but the plastic is thick enough to withstand basic use. The hose is sturdy, the attachments less so but still very adequate. The body is solid enough to get dragged around the house. The point of attachment between the bag and the hose inlet is well-designed... much more effectively designed than the other canisters I looked at in store. The hose has a 360 degree rotating collar where it attaches to the main canister.
5) The Bag: yeah, it's small but it really packs a punch. I'm so cheap I use my shop vac to clean out my vacuum cleaner bags. The first time I cleaned this little bag I couldn't believe how much dirt was packed in there. Sound corny, I know, but it was super full--and super compacted. The bag is easy to change.
6) The Bag Compartment: the bag is enclosed inside a lighter plastic roll-cage. This helps the bag maintain its shape... very good design. I think this contributes to why such a small bag expands and fills so evenly. I've had uprights with much larger bags that didn't seem to fill evenely or fully before major loss of suction.
7) Hose: it's a good long hose and long enough for most stairs. The hose is made of a very sturdy material--feels very strong and not easy to puncture.
8) Features & Tools: the power nozzle is electric motor driven-- I wasn't sure about that when I bought it. It works well enough. It's only a single brush so it's probably not as effective as the double brush roll types like the hoover. But it's still good. The other tools are very useful-- bare floor brush works great, crevice tool, fabric brush. This vac also includes a nice air-driven hand-held roll-brush for getting pet hair off the sofa. This little guy works great but is noisy. The retractable cord is a nice feature. Tools don't store on board but honestly I think that feature is over-rated as they always end up falling off. The main handle & extensions are long and easy to use... they snap together.

Cons:

1) Small vac: for a huge house with wall-to-wall carpet and lots of pile you might want something beefier.
2) Short cord: the cord is long enough to suit me but I could see in a large open floor-plan you'd want a longer cord.
3) Accessory Tools Don't Snap or Click on: yeah that's a little annoying... the attachments just sort of "jam" into place. Probably the biggest weakness of this vac.
4) Bags are hard to come by: hard to find the Electrolux S / Eureka OX type bags. I ordered some from Amazon in mid June and they still haven't arrived by Aug. 1. Might want to look on another site for these bags.
5) Power Nozzle: the main power nozzle is good but the single roll-brush design could be a bit better but all-in-all it's been very effective for my needs.

In mind my, the Pros totally destroy the Cons. The cons don't really bother me a bit.

I'm very happy with the vacuum... it's more than I expected, especially for the money.

It's an all-around versatile vac that a good value.

This lightweight Eureka vacuum cleans beautifully on carpet and bare floors and is fun to use. Strong enough for any job with a telescopic handle and a motorized brushroll it combines two powerful motors, an easy-empty dirt cup and an extra long power cord to offer powerful cleaning and convenience.
Amazon.com Review:
If anything could be said to make vacuuming "fun," it's this compact, ultra-lightweight little unit. Weighing just eight pounds, the Boss Superlite Widetrack is a fine compromise between a heavy conventional upright and a hand-held vacuum: light enough for even little kids to use, powerful enough to suck up an impressive amount of debris, and way easier on the back than bending over with a handheld or broom. The two-motor system powers a rotating brushroll to get plush pile carpets deep clean, then lets users switch it off to vacuum hardwoods or other delicate floors--a real plus, since units with a constantly-spinning brushroll tend to kick up dust when cleaning hard surfaces. The easy-empty dirt cup is transparent so you can see when it's full, and the wide 12-inch cleaning path rivals that of the Superlite's much bigger cousins. The telescoping handle extends for cleaning, then folds down for compact storage (or use on stairs, where a handy stair-cleaning grip means there's no tricky balancing to do). With just a 3-amp motor, the Boss Superlite Widetrack is probably best for last-minute touch-ups and light jobs, but it's effective enough for full-time use in dorm rooms or small apartments as well. Users with pets or small children will find it especially handy for keeping on top of daily clean-up. The unit measures a compact 12 inches by 6 inches by 27-1/3 inches with the handle extended, features a 20-inch-long power cord, and is covered by a one-year warranty. --Mary Park

An inexpensive, perfectly functional, no frills vacuum.
I bought this Vacuum for my one bedroom apartment. It sucks up dirt off the carpet well, which is about all I really cared about.

The cord might be a bit short for really large rooms, but it was just fine for my place.

I was a little apprehensive about turning the vacuum on, based on the noise complaints from other reviewers. Honestly, I'm not sure what they're talking about. It's noisy, like you would expect from a vacuum, but no where near uncomfortable levels.

Second one
This is actually the second time we have purchased this model. I had bought the original one to use in the small apartment I had. Since marrying, my wife used it extensively in our large home vacuuming the wooden floors. She likes it because it is so light. However, in time the handle broke on the original unit. After a lot of shopping in brick and mortar store and on line, we bought the same unit again. There are a few small changes between the original unit and this one, but essentially it is the same vacuum. The salient points: it's light, effective, and inexpensive.

It's good and light !
This is a good vacuum and is very light and easy to handle. The noise of this vacuum is a little bit high, and I would recommend wearing ear plugs if that kind of thing bothers you. Other than than, a good vacuum for quick jobs around the home. The cord is nice and long so you can cover areas far and wide in no time, and get back to your cup of tea and relaxation time, lickity split.

The Boss Superlite
The Boss Superlite is truly fabulous for my household. I have had numerous vacuums and they all have problems clogging because of dog hair. The Boss has a very short "path" from pickup of debris to reaching the cup, so there are no hoses, etc. to clog. I do have to empty the cup after vacuuming a room, but it can be as quick as a one hand release and dump into the nearest waste can. If the brush roll gets dirty (yes, my dog really sheds that much) it takes just a second to pull out the debris (scissors help). I had a Boss before and loved it because of its light weight and great pickup; also, because it has the floor/carpet adjustments. I foolishly sold it (still working)at a garage sale (after 5 years of hard use), thinking I really needed a full size vacuum. WRONG! My new full size vacuum clogs and loses suction. So I bought another Boss and am happy again with clean carpet. Just buy an extra dust cup so you always have a clean one; reuse forever if you clean gently under cool water and air dry well.

Love this sucker!!
This is my second Eureka Boss Superlite ,This model is much louder cheaper quality than the last one . could not find this model in the stores, bought the cordless Eureka Boss ,what a waste of money .Finally found this on amazon , even though quality isn't the same they added extra cord, suction is stronger .As for the loudness works in my favor ,when my house becomes too overwhelming with the daily living cell phone's dog barking you name it, I drag the little red monster out and he does all the talking .

Amazon.com Review:
Eliminating the need for two separate vacuums--one for thorough cleaning and one for quick-and-easy touchups--the Eureka Optima has all the power, features, and performance of a conventional upright coupled with the light weight and convenience of a stick. Where the Optima doesn't cut corners is suction: at just under 12 pounds, this machine can out-draw units twice its weight, and its HEPA filter captures more than 99.9% of dust mites, pollen, and other allergens for cleaner indoor air. Its 12-amp dual- motor system devotes one motor to suction and another to turning the rotating brushroll, which can be switched all the way off for gentle cleaning of hardwoods and other delicate surfaces. The unit's bagless construction eliminates the hassle and expense of disposable vacuum cleaner bags, and its comfort-grip looped handle has 13 different adjustable positions customizable to all users in the family, from the shortest to the tallest.

Surprisingly versatile for such an inexpensive machine, the Optima also comes with a decent selection of onboard tools, including a dusting brush and crevice wand as well as Eureka's unique Power Paw. This handheld attachment features a powerful brushroll to remove ground-in dirt and pet hair; its "Riser Visor" shield flips up and down to convert from vertical to horizontal cleaning on surfaces from stairs to upholstery. Suction control allows users to direct power from the floor nozzle to the hose, resulting in a stronger, dedicated airflow in both modes. The Optima isn't perfect: it's a tad loud and the filter does need cleaning, but it represents a unique blend of power, ergonomics, and ease of use at a reasonable price point. And while the unit is rather narrow, its excellent maneuverability and small footprint when stored more than make up for the reduced cleaning path. The Optima comes fully assembled; it measures 13 inches wide by 15 inches long and stands 44-1/2 inches tall and is backed by a one-year parts-and-labor warranty. --Mary Park

Great little machine. Bang for the buck...
Our Eureka Upright 431BX Vacuum was broken after 4 years maximize of use and we bought this guy following reviews on Amazon for replacement. It's technically the same machine but this little guy a bit smaller, a bit lighter and more functional. It's pretty easy maneuver, much less noise compare with our current model. And smart idea this one has an additional rotate brush, which is very helpful to clean stair or corner.

Over all, I'm happy with my new vac performances and cannot ask for more. Especially with Amazon pricing plus free shipping you just can't go wrong! Thanks to the reviews was very helpful anytime I have to buy something. I have not yet disappointed once when shopping here.

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!
I am so very pleased with this vacuum. It is light-weight, and does just about everything! The attachments are great! I love the way the hose attachment has a spinning brush as well!
You can actually see the brush lines in the carpet. You know for sure that it is kicking up the dirt to be collected. I foster dogs, and the vacuum has been fabulous at picking up pet hair!
The floor option is great! No more sweeping! It's nice because you can change it to a suck-only option so it doesn't blow the dirt everywhere as a regular vacuum would.
All in all, the best vacuum I have ever used - and, the price is unbelievable, on Amazon.

Works like a charm!
I purchased this mainly to vacuum up kitty litter that my cat tosses everywhere. It vacuumed up the large kitty litter particles with a single swipe so I am very pleased. When emptying the vacuum bucket, I was shocked...there was a good 2 inches of dust in there as well! I hadn't realized how dirty these floors were until I vacuumed them! The dust was super fine which demonstrates the relative suction power of the vacuum.

Besides its function, the vacuum cleaner is light as advertised. The dust bucket comes on and off very easily which reduces the likelihood that you'll end up dumping its contents all over the place. The adjustable handle is quite nice too.

Overall, this vacuum does as advertised and I'd recommend it to anyone. I haven't had it for a long time, so I can't discuss the longevity of the vacuum, but I had a similar vacuum from Eureka previous to this one, and it survived well.

My Search is Over!
My 2nd Oreck bit the dust so to speak. The only thing that impressed me about it was the light weight. After reading the reviews on the Eureka Optima I made the purchase. Assembly took about 3 minutes. This thing sucks like crazy! I have carpet and hardwood and this machine has settings for both which is great. For bare floors you can turn off the beater bar and it picks up everything without shooting it all over the place. In ONE PASS it even picked up all the cat kibble my messy boy cat spreads around. Slightly heavier than my Oreck but worth it because it has the onboard tools which are easy to use and everything actually stays put on the machine while you dash around vacuuming. The power paw is a fantastic thing for stairs and pet hair, crumbs etc. on furniture. So far I am very pleased and feel like my search is over for now. As other reviews have stated the dirt needs to be emptied each time but I actually see that as a good thing because it will keep the machine in better working order. Besides, because you can see how much dirt you just collected, you actually WANT to get rid of it right away. If price, weight and versatility are key for you than this is the machine to get. With Amazon purchase, free shipping, no tax, quick delivery = no brainer.

Great lightweight vac!!!
Ever since my roommate took his green version of this vacuum when we left our apartment I have always been searching for it. I bought a Dirt Devil bagless upright and immediately missed this vac! The Dirt Devil was very heavy and tiring to switch from the floor suction to the tube suction. They don't sell this Eureka model at Costco for bucks anymore so I bought this one instead. I love this vacuum so much I am willing to spend the extra 30 bucks! It's just that great. The one I got was the 437az HEPA filter model with the power pet paw. This thing is so lightweight and easy to maneuver that it's actually fun to vacuum. Here's the jist of why I like it:

PROS:

1) lightweight and easy to store in a small space
2) easy easy easy to switch from floor suction to hose suction
3) very powerful suction that's not too noisy (even my girlfriend thinks its quiet for the power)
4) great on carpet AND hardwood floor
5) looks and feels very well made (not plasticy like my Dirt Devil)
6) good for pet hair

CONS

1) placement of air flow out of the vacuum; it's located right in front of the vacuum pointing downward so it will blow things away before you can suck them up

-EASY FIX; just cut out a piece of light cardboard like a 3in by 7in piece of cereal box. Then tape it to the bottom of the exhaust up to the sides of the upper portion of the exhaust. Problem solved! Now this vacuum is perfect because the air flows forward and upward!

If you are looking for a good lightweight vacuum this is the best!
