Amazon.com Review:
An inexpensive alternative to brooms, dustpans, and bending over to get at the last of the dirt pile, the cordless, bagless, yet surprisingly effective Dirt Devil Broom Vacuum is well suited to heavy-duty sweeping and vacuuming on hard-surface floors of all types. Where it really shines, though, is for quick touch-ups-the dog-hair tumbleweeds and stray Cheerios of everyday life. 60% more powerful than the Broom Vacuum's last incarnation, its 9.6 volt motor has plenty of juice for sucking up debris from tile, laminate, hardwoods, and linoleum. Users with bad backs will appreciate the foot-activated on/off switch, and at just 3-1/2 pounds, without cumbersome power cords to trip over, the unit maneuvers with admirable ease. It's easy to see when the transparent dirt cup is full, and the canister snaps off easily for emptying. Brushed-edge cleaning extends the unit's reach, and the 10-inch-wide nozzle feels more like a broom than a skinny stick vacuum. To recharge, simply plug into the included adaptor when storing. The Dirt Devil Broom Vacuum is not intended for wet spills or carpeted surfaces, but for dry messes, crumbs, and dust, it's a solid value and so easy to use that you just might find yourself sweeping the kitchen floor more often. The unit measures a compact 21 by 13 by 1-1/2 inches and is covered by a one-year warranty. < I>--Mary Park

Good broom. Poor battery life.
We purchased the broom in early '08. It worked fairly well for our wood and tile floors. About what we expected. However, after about 18 months the battery went. There is no way to replace it yourself. The factory gave me the number of a repair shop. They said forget replacing the battery, it's less money to buy a new one. There you go. If you think the price is worth maybe up to two years of use, buy it. We did not think it was worth replacing ours. The old broom and dust pan are pretty inexpensive.

Good for Price and every day use
This is a great product for every day use. Don't have to get out a dust pan. It just sucks it up right into the broom and has quite a bit of storage space so you don't have to empty it every time. Holds its charge well. The cons is it is still a broom, so tight to get get into those hard to reach places. It is also a little heavier than a broom. Most of the time you have to get right on top of the item for it to suction it up. And to clean the bristles, you have to use your hand... Other than that, good product. If I were to replace this, I would try to find something that has a moveable base so I can get right up against baseboards and in those hard to reach places.

Terrible batteries.
After 6 months of use the batteries go kaput. This has been true for two different units. Not of much use with that short of life.

Works for me
This does pretty much what you expect it to. It's very easy to use, and helps me get to places I can't normally reach. Far more convenient than a standard broom, and doesn't scratch my floors like a regular vacuum. Not very powerful, but I didn't really expect it to be.

Just pushes the dirt around.
This broom was mediocre from the word go. It's awkward as a broom but the vaccuum power was so weak that sweeping was pretty much its only use. Basically, you could push the dirt around (though not as easily as with a simple corn broom) and it would suck up a few crumbs and that's kind of it. It wasn't broken, it just didn't work very well. There are no pets or young children in the household so it wasn't on heavy duty either. It was only used for cleaning the edges of the living room and a tile entryway and it didn't do that particularly well. Sadly, we didn't think to return it in time and about two months in the suction got even worse but we were stuck with it. The idea is good but it just did not work for us.
Save your money and skip this one. (We ultimately bought a corn broom and an 18-V B&D handvac to take over edge and entryway cleaning. Neither is as convenient as this product should have been, but both work well for their purposes.)

Suction was great... before it stopped working
Worked great, despite the air blowing out from the middle of the device. As long as you aimed it so that it didn't blow air where you were trying to vacuum, it worked. Never had a problem with the battery holding a charge either. But then one day it just stopped turning on. If I hit the power switch about fifty times, it would eventually turn on and stay on. But it's annoying to have to hit the power switch fifty times every time you want to vacuum up a little mess.

Does the easy jobs
It's great for small, light things like hair and dust. It is noisy, blows things away, but it's great for just a quick clean up. The design, however, is a little faulty in that the handle area is so slick and smooth, it often slips out of my hands because it has some weight to it too. The filter is a little gross to clean, could be more efficient. The battery life isn't great, seems to die really fast. It does the job in my house though for the quick clean up of pet and human hair. Not great though.

this thing really sucks...in a good way!
i read some of the negative reviews w/ skepticism & bought this anywayDirt Devil 0213BLU Kone Cordless Rechargeable Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, Blue...it has proven my skepticism to be well-founded. perhaps the negative reviewers were comparing this to a reg vac, which is apples to oranges. for its size & the fact that it's a handheld & cordless, it works very well. we just put an addition on our house & there was a lot of sm debris to pick up daily; the only time i had trouble was when the filter got clogged w/ sheetrock dust...well that would reduce the efficiency of a full-szd vac! just banged most of the dust off the filter & reused, until it got to the point where i had to wash it...no big deal. it's very convenient, has great suction & i didn't have to drill holes in the wall for a charger plate.

amazing!
This is the greatest dustbuster ever! I have long hair that I need to vacuum off the floor constantly. This is perfect for a quick cleanup, especially great for the bathroom. Instead of lugging out my full-size vac, I just use this and I'm done in just a few seconds. I keep it plugged in all the time in the corner of the hall. It takes up very little space and does not look ugly.

glad I got it
The bad reviews almost made me not get it, but I'm glad I did. I got it mostly for cleaning up pet hair. It works great for small jobs. The vents aren't a problem because they aren't on the bottom and I have had no problem putting it on the charger. It is kinda loud and needs to be emptied often, but it works great.
